Azure OpenAI and Foundry

Use models you have deployed in Microsoft Foundry (Azure OpenAI).

Overview

On Azure you first deploy a model in your own resource and give the deployment a name. Loom needs that deployment name (not the model’s name), your resource name and a key.

Loom uses the current v1 route, which needs no API version.

Get a key

  1. 1
In the Azure portal, create (or open) a Microsoft Foundry or Azure OpenAI resource.
  2. 2
In Foundry, open Models, pick a model and Deploy it. Note the deployment name; you can choose it, and it defaults to the model’s name.
  3. 3
On the resource, open Keys and Endpoint (the menu wording varies slightly) and copy Key 1.
  4. 4
Your resource name is the part of the endpoint before .openai.azure.com, for example my-resource.

Cost. Billed through your Azure subscription. API keys give full access to the resource, so keep them private and rotate them.

Add it to Loom

  1. 1
Open Loom, then Providers in the menu, and choose Add provider.
  2. 2
Pick Azure OpenAI and Foundry (the search box finds it).
  3. 3
Fill in the fields in the table below.
  4. 4
Choose Connect. Loom checks the key and says how many models it found. If it cannot check, it says so, and you can Save anyway and try a message.
  5. 5
Open the model chip below the message box and pick a model.
  • Resource name: just the name, with no https:// and no dots.
  • Deployment names: one or more, separated by commas. The first one is the default. Azure cannot list models, so these are what the model picker shows.
