Overview
Moonshot runs two separate platforms, international and China. A key only works on the platform it was made on.
Get a key
- 1For the international platform, go to platform.moonshot.ai (also reachable as platform.kimi.ai) and sign up.
- 2Add a payment method or recharge a small amount; the key needs a funded account to work.
- 3Open API Keys and choose Create API Key. Name it and pick a project.
- 4Copy the key. It is shown once.
Cost. Prepaid. Creating a key is free; using it needs a balance.
Add it to Loom
- 1Open Loom, then Providers in the menu, and choose Add provider.
- 2Pick Moonshot Kimi (the search box finds it).
- 3Fill in the fields in the table below.
- 4Choose Connect. Loom checks the key and says how many models it found. If it cannot check, it says so, and you can Save anyway and try a message.
- 5Open the model chip below the message box and pick a model.
- Loom’s address is the international one,
https://api.moonshot.ai/v1. - If your account is on the China platform (platform.moonshot.cn), change Endpoint to
https://api.moonshot.cn/v1.

Good to know
Kimi’s reasoning models write their thinking separately. Loom hands it back during tool use, which Moonshot requires.
